Thailand has a large population of street dogs and cats, often fed by local communities and Buddhist temples, and a dedicated network of rescues working to sterilise, vaccinate, treat and rehome them. Many Thai rescues are based in or near popular destinations such as Phuket, Hua Hin and the Eastern Seaboard, rely heavily on international volunteers and donors, and fly adopted animals to new homes overseas. Legitimate Thai rescues are usually registered as a foundation (mulanithi) with the Thai authorities, and some also have partner charities registered abroad so supporters can give tax-efficiently in their own country. Each Thai organisation on Real Rescues has been checked against its official website and independent sources before being added.
