Rescue P.A.W.S. (Providing Animal Welfare through Sterilisation) was co-founded in 2013 by Thailand-based XploreAsia and Australia's Global Work & Travel Co. on the grounds of Khao Tao Buddhist Temple, around 12 kilometres south of Hua Hin. What began as a feeding programme for local street dogs quickly evolved into a full animal welfare operation with a surgical clinic, 12 kennels, and a dedicated play area.
The organisation's work focuses on three core pillars: sterilisation to halt overpopulation, education to shift community attitudes toward stray animals, and adoption to find permanent homes for rescued dogs and cats. To date, Rescue P.A.W.S. has performed over 11,000 sterilisations and administered nearly 40,000 vaccinations, significantly reducing the stray population across the Hua Hin district and surrounding villages.
Day-to-day operations are carried out by a small team of full-time staff supported by a rotating pool of international and local volunteers. Volunteers — ranging from trained veterinarians and vet students to passionate animal lovers — assist with feeding runs, kennel maintenance, medical care, rehabilitation exercises, and beach walks for the resident dogs. The clinic also conducts fieldwork in surrounding communities, treating packs of street dogs in situ rather than always bringing them to the facility.
Rescue P.A.W.S. accepts online donations, individual animal sponsorships, and flight volunteers (people willing to accompany adopted animals on flights to their new homes abroad). 100% of direct donations go towards animal care — food, medicine, and veterinary equipment. The organisation is a project of For Future Foundation, a registered Thai non-profit.
