Indonesia

Indonesia has large populations of street dogs and cats, and Bali in particular has a well-established community of animal welfare organisations, many supported by international donors and volunteers. Indonesian rescues typically run free or low-cost sterilisation and vaccination programmes, including rabies vaccination for dogs, treat sick and injured animals, and rehome cats and dogs locally and abroad. Most also work on community education about responsible pet ownership. Genuine Indonesian charities are usually registered as a yayasan (foundation) with the Ministry of Law, and some also have partner charities registered in the UK, USA or Australia so supporters can give tax-efficiently. Each Indonesian organisation on Real Rescues has been checked against its official website and independent sources before being added.
