Candy's Hound Rescue International

Candy's Hound Rescue International (formerly known as Candy Cane Rescue) is a UK-registered charity dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming greyhounds and other dog breeds from the meat trade, unethical breeding programmes, illegal racetracks and other dangerous situations in countries with little or no animal welfare protection, particularly China.

Working with a network of local partners on the ground, the charity locates dogs in trouble and gets them to safety. A network of vets treats injuries and nurses the dogs back to health before they are well enough to travel. Once ready, the dogs are flown to the UK, North America or Europe, where they are fostered ahead of being placed in loving, permanent forever homes.

The charity has rescued and rehomed hundreds of dogs, including greyhounds recovering from the racing and meat trade industries as well as galgos and other breeds. It also supports adopters through its Home Check Process, provides ongoing sponsorship options for dogs that cannot be rehomed, and runs an active foster and flight volunteer network. Beyond direct rescue work, Candy's Hound Rescue International educates the public about the realities of the dog meat trade and unethical breeding, and works to end animal cruelty through advocacy and partnership with local welfare organisations.

The organisation is a registered charity (Charity Number 1179928) operating in England and Wales, and accepts donations, sponsorships and adoption enquiries through its website.
