Action for Singapore Dogs (ASD) is a non-profit society set up in December 2000 to improve the welfare of stray and abandoned dogs in Singapore, with a strict no-kill policy. It rescues, fosters and rehomes dogs, many of them local crossbreeds (often called Singapore Specials), and says it has rehomed more than 3,000 dogs since it began.
To keep its overheads low, ASD has no office. Its dogs live at the ASD Canine Rehoming Centre (ACRC) at The Animal Lodge in Sungei Tengah, where it moved in October 2022 after many years at Lim Chu Kang, and in foster homes. The centre houses more than 80 dogs, where sick and injured dogs recover before they are adopted. Its website lists the dogs currently available, with notes on each one, including whether it is HDB-approved.
ASD also holds adoption drives, runs a dog sponsorship scheme, and offers training through its Dog Listener Academy. Its accounts are audited each year and filed with IRAS and the Registry of Societies.
You can help by adopting, fostering, sponsoring a dog, volunteering (volunteers at the centre must be 21 or over) or donating. Donations can be made online or by PayNow to UEN T02SS0132E.
