Saahas for Animals

About Saahas for Animals

Saahas for Animals is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation founded in 2019 by Geetanjali Taur in Pune, India. The name 'Saahas' means courage in Hindi — a fitting word for an organisation that responds to animal emergencies around the clock across Pimpri-Chinchwad and the wider Pune metropolitan area. Every day, close to 100 rescued animals call their shelter home.

What They Do

Saahas operates a full-service rescue centre with a resident veterinarian and on-site clinic. When an injured or distressed animal is reported, their team deploys immediately — attending the location or guiding the reporter to bring the animal in. Once at the shelter, animals receive assessment, primary treatment, and admission if required. Saahas's work spans multiple programmes including feeding drives, vaccination drives, reflective collar drives, and adoption facilitation.

Animals They Help

Saahas helps street dogs, cats, and cows. It costs approximately ₹2,200 per day to feed their dogs and cats, and ₹3,000 for cows. Their One Day Meal Program allows donors to sponsor a day of meals for the animals.

Adoption

Saahas actively promotes adoption and runs a dedicated adoption programme. Prospective adopters are thoroughly screened to ensure rescued animals go to safe, loving homes.

How to Help

Donations can be made directly through their website. Saahas also welcomes volunteers, CSR partnerships, and in-kind support. Every contribution goes directly to the animals in their care.
