Brazil

Brazil has millions of street dogs and cats, and a large community of ONGs (non-governmental organisations) and abrigos (shelters) working to rescue, treat, neuter and rehome them. Many Brazilian rescues run their own veterinary facilities, hold regular adoption fairs and campaign for stronger animal-protection laws. Legitimate organisations are registered with a CNPJ, which can be checked on the federal register before you donate. Each Brazilian organisation listed on Real Rescues has been verified against its official website and its CNPJ registration.
